Jade Dragon, Tiger, Fox, Lamp Work Glass Pendant Necklace

Approx 2 1/2" drop x;1 1/4" on an adjustable leather cord.

$220

This beautifully carved light green jade pendant is carved with a dragon on one side of the piece with a carved tiger below it.  On the other side is carved a fox and the money symbols.  The carving is raised with it being more raised on the dragon side .

I have topped it with a glass lamp work bead in the same color as the jade.  There is some golden areas in it as well which are picked up by the small bead of clear golden Baltic amber that sits between the jade and the glass bead.  The jade is 1 3/4” by 1 1/4” and drops 2 1/2” from a black natural leather cord that is adjustable in length.

The dragon is the imperial emblem of the Emperors in China, especially from the from the Han period where their coat of arms shows two dragons fighting for the fiery pearl.  The dragon is a supernatural creature and is the symbol of power, strength, wisdom and goodness.  It represents the utmost in accomplishment: good luck and a successful life. It is also believed to be the guardian of hidden treasures.  It represents the spirit of growth and change.

The tiger represents strength and expertise especially in the military. The tiger is viewed as the king of the beasts in Asia and is a symbol of power. When worn as an amulet the tiger is believed to keep evil from entering the home and to ensure the safe return of the master of the home.
The fox is believed to have supernatural qualities and can assume human form, and can be mischievous, toying with love affairs.  They are symbolic of longevity.

Chinese royalty has worn jade for centuries.   It is believed to be a spiritual stone and has been called the jewel of heaven.  It represents the five principal virtues:  charity, modesty, courage, justice and wisdom.  From cloudy white to golden brown, light to dark green, to rare lavender, jade is the most highly prized Asian gemstone.  Jade has been regarded as the most precious stone for thousands of years.  It is believed to protect the wearer and ensure good luck and good health as well as to increase life span.
